1Jump onto a railing or a wall together with your hands gripped onto the top of the railing or wall with your feet pushed up against the wall or bottom railing.
2Start to shift your body weight outwards and get ready to push your legs into a straight position, and together with your hands turning the other way from where you had been originally placed.
3Start to turn your whole body 180 degrees from exactly where you had been originally positioned, facing the opposite wall/railing.
4Pull your legs in and then grab the railing facing you. When your hands are on your feet need to automatically be placed on the bar.
The Victoria Falls Bungee jump has a 100% safety record – and is obtainable 365 days per year.
You are able to combine it with a swing and slide below the bridge for a combo adrenaline package
Times: 0900 to 1700 Low water July to Feb

Border Formalities
The bridge lies in “no mans land” between the Zimbabwean and Zambian Border Posts.
Jumpers, spectators, etc. have to indicate towards immigration officials that they’re only proceeding onto the bridge and then returning via the same border post.
Immigration officials will then issue two Gate Passes, one of which need to be retained for re-entry through that border post.
*** Significant ***
The BV (bridge go to) gate pass does not entitle the client to visit Zambia or vice versa.
He or she Should HAVE THEIR PASSPORT STAMPED for exit by the relevant immigration authorities before proceeding to the next country!
Sufficient time need to be allowed for to obtain from Victoria Falls town towards border, by means of Customs & Immigration, then down for the bridge and up towards the registration area to check in.
As such, clients should leave town ONE HOUR prior to their appointed jump time
Registration of Jumper
The registration area is set up adjacent on the bridge on the Zambian bank of the Zambezi River. All clients are to proceed towards registration area prior to jumping.
No special clothing, equipment or experience is necessary. Jumpers are advised to remove any jewelry and accessories.
Clients who have pre-booked and/or prepaid need to present their voucher at registration.
The clients are screened, weighed, and registered for the jump. Registering includes signing an indemnity form, payment (or voucher presentation) and the recording of the payment transaction.
The jump number and weight is clearly written on the back of the jumper’s hand.
The Jump
The ankle harness has two components:
- Padding to provide protection to the ankles.
- Mountaineering webbing (3,000 kg working load).
The webbing is secured over the padding and around both legs just above the ankles, binding both legs firmly together.
The knot used is a self-loading knot that is impossible to either slip or come undone during the jump
There have been over 500,000 jumps world wide using this particular ankle tie method without an incident of it slipping or coming undone.
The client is harnessed up for the jump and is safely attached at all times.
Jumpers are placed in a waist harness with a separate attachment to the bungi cord as a secondary back up and for recovery back to the bridge.
All connections to the bungi cord are made before the platform safety line is removed.
The Jumpers’ weight is transmitted through the ankle harness to the bungi cord, which stretches out to approximately three times the original length.
This elongation provides a gradual deceleration of the jumper’s free-fall without placing any sudden stressful forces on the jumper.
Clients can decide at any stage not to jump.
At no stage is anybody forced to jump or pushed. However, after the registration process has been completed, jumps paid for are considered non refundable and non transferable.
Recovery System
After the client has jumped, a recovery operator is lowered down to the jumper, who then attaches a recovery line to the body harness of the jumper.
Both the jumper and operator are then winched back on to the catwalk below the bridge.
GENERAL
Digital photographs are taken of each jump and are available for viewing and purchase on site.
Videos of each jump are recorded. These are available for purchase and may be viewed +/-10 minutes after the jump at the registration area.
Each tape starts with a five-minute promo followed by the client’s preparation and jump filmed from both the platform area and Zambian bank adjacent to the bridge.
Merchandising products are available for sale at the registration area.
These currently include 4 different shirt designs, sweatshirts, shorts, caps, posters and postcards.

If you are a person who dares to do anything, here is often a sport to test your guts. The bungee bouncing is not for frail hearted people. This is the activity which involves jumping from tall fixed bridges whilst linked towards the stretchy string. Whenever you jump using it, the cord extends and the jumper moves upward and again snap back to oscillate up. All individuals must try bungee leaping minimum once in life time as it is really exciting and thrilling. Reverse bungee bouncing and tandem bungee are the other bouncing kinds. Usually select the finest bungee bouncing provider and check the license and safety measures to have a thrilling and safe holiday.
I learned on a mil. spec. program. In pirate jumping it has a range of advantages. You’ve a set of five individual cords that you group with each other in a set of 3,4,or5. So it is possible to jump from 100-250lbs with one set of cords. They may be covered in Nylon (or Cotton) sheaths that protect them from dirt when you lay them down. Also, the redundancy of multiple cords, too as the sheaths which act as a static back up within the case of over elongation, supply (I think) a greater degree of safety. Traditional mil. spec. cords have an elongation of about 110%. By the way, from the “bungy or bungee” page a popular mistake is made about this word. Elongation refers to the change in duration of the cord, not the ultimate loaded duration. So 110% elongation in a 100 foot long cord is 110 feet for a total stretched length of緒 feet, or 2.1 times it is original length. Since mil. spec. cord stretches much less, a longer period is frequently utilized, resulting in much more initial totally free fall.
After the 1995 X-games I realized that, due to the fact with the bigger rebounds, additional acrobatic stunts had been possible on all rubber cord. So I set about learning how to construct that form of cord. New Zealand style cord is built having a ribbon, about 3 inches wide, composed of a number of stands of rubber. This is wrapped all-around teflon spools, tied with each other, stretched to it’s ultimate elongation and wrapped down it is time-span, using the very same form of rubber, to hold it all with each other.
The actual building of an all rubber cord, or tying loops on the ends of mil. spec. cord isn’t something that may be learned by means of words only. You have to find out very first hand from somebody who knows what they are doing. So you possibly can watch them and they can check your work. The exact same goes for the bungee program, regardless of whether it’s a lowering system, a man basket on the winch, or a raising technique, you either should find out it first hand or begin from scratch using the engineering done on all the materials, and many practice “jumps” performed with sandbags.
New Zealand specification cord has an elongation of 200-300%, i.e. it will stretch to 3-4 occasions it can be original duration. I feel the Kocklemans came up while using idea of building a time-span of webbing into all rubber cord. This back up is the time-span on the ultimate elongation on the cord. This provides it the redundancy that I like. The Kocklemans develop their cords thicker than New Zealand specs. This gives the cord a long life (more than 1000 jumps) but results in higher G-forces, and less capability to do rebound tricks. I think their elongation is ፖ-200%.
It can be challenging to ascertain actual elongation mainly because many people will tell you the time-span with the all rubber cord prior to it’s stretched out and tied down it is period. This makes the cord a little longer (about 5-10%) than when the ribbon is very first layed all-around the spools. For instance, for a絤 foot jump you would very first lay the rubber out at 22.5 feet, which would ought to stretch to 4.5 times it can be original time-span to obtain to 100 feet. But once the cord is stretched and tied it would be about 25 feet long. So then it would should stretch to 4 instances it is duration to reach 100 feet.
Nicely, I’m starting to ramble so that’s all I need to say about that. Here’s some info for your bungee web-sites list. Total Rebound and Yesh in California are pals of mine which are no longer inside the business. My business is going to be active again in Northern California in December 1996. I’ll update you later. The web-sites at Raging Waters and Large Bear were both temporary stops for Thrill Sport Productions, who produces our show in Taiwan. They will have arches at state fairs this summer in Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, and other places. Their Corporate office is 88 A Elm St. Hopkington MA 01748 Tel.(508)435-0420 Fax(508)435-6ᔒ. Total Tough Core Gear, in Redding California, makes what I think are the greatest harnesses. They make both ankle harnesses and chest and waist harnesses. They may be fleece covered, well padded, and use self locking parachute buckles, which are uncomplicated to use and secure. Sorry, I do not have their address or phone amount. I employed the N.Z. Bungy Knot ankle binding at the 95 X-games and didn’t like it. Like you said, you feel trapped. Also, the force is transferred to your legs with a 1 inch strap, which, even although padded, digs in right after a whilst. The worst thing although is that when it tightens there is a 2 foot strap of webbing hanging off which can wrap close to your calf on a rebound and then your are hanging from an unpadded 1 inch strap which genuinely abrades the skin and can cause hematomas. This happened to three of my good friends at the ’95 Extreme Games.
The Euro Cord
The European/New Zealand cords described above look like this
Steve who wrote that section above believes that the US mil spec system is safer since of the extra redundancy, but the Euro cords do have the advantage that they could be inspected after each jump for signs of rubber failure or possible difficulties. The sheath on Mil spec cords prevents this. Some Euro cords have an extra static line built into the core to prevent over stretch and offer extra backup. The term Euro cord is really a little misleading – this cord is utilized and made in quite a few countries.
Mil Spec Cord
Mil Spec cord is cord that’s created to US military specifications, these specifications were designed to hold down tanks on boats and in planes rather than to suspend adrenaline junkies jumping off bridges. As it turns out they work rather well for both!.
Here is some mil. spec cord created by Glenn from Bungee Experience. The pink/white stuff is the cord, the blue webbing is attached in a very exclusive method to the ends of the cords to ensure that carrabiners can be attached to each end. The way the end from the cord is connected with a piece of webbing is known as termination. The Red Tape is part in the specific way the cords are terminated.
It all began within the Pacific when the Vanuatu men and women performed a harvest festival by tying vines on their ankles and throwing themselves off towers. This led to a few experimental jumping by an adventure group, but it was A.J.Hackett who truly got things off the ground when he invented the creative use of latex rubber cords to facilitate the leap. This became Bungy or Bungee Jumping.
As his base from which to offer his version of extreme sports, he chose Queenstown in New Zealand. Queenstown is not only well-known for bungy jumping but also for all manner of extreme sports. But as the ‘home of bungee,’ a go to to Queenstown isn’t complete without leaping off a bridge or ledge.
As the pioneers, AJ Hackett Bungy provides quite a few alternatives for the varying degree of expertise of thrill seekers.
The 1st Bungy jump was off the Kawarau Bridge. This has remained an excellent area for bungy jumping specifically for beginners. This 43 meter leap takes you rushing towards the Kawarau River. The Nevis Highway Bungy at 134 meters is definitely not for the weak-hearted. The jump location is a specially built leap pod which requires you spinning towards the Nevis River in 8.5 seconds. The Ledge Urban Bungy will be the only bungy jumping area set in an urban area. The location gives a 400 meter runway from which you can launch yourself over the edge. One can also choose to ride a swing from this spot too and jumps from this ledge are accessible during the day along with night.
If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush and are in Queenstown then Bungy Jumping could be the answer. If such traveller seeks a Queenstown resort or Queenstown hotels then the Copthorne Hotel and Resort Queenstown Lakefront with its convenient distance to most thrill seeking venues is going to be an excellent selection.

Since 1987, far more than two million individuals have bungee jumped, in accordance with Medstudents.com. In 1992 there were five deaths and four critical injuries reported due to bungee jumping, but the website warns there’s a lack of date to determine just how dangerous the sport might be. Age, weight, equipment and personal skills are some with the factors to take into account when assessing why a jumper was injured.
The Jump
Medstudents.com divides the bungee jump into three parts.Łst, there’s the free fall, in which jump stress hormones are released, a feeling of exhilaration that could last for days. Second is system deceleration, the intensity of which depends on the kind of cord utilized as well as the jump’s altitude. Third is the upward movement, normally in a head-down position.
Minor Injuries
Some from the minor injuries that will outcome from a bungee leap consist of contusions, pinched fingers and cord burns for the entire body, according to Medstudents.com.
Head injuries
Among the additional serious head injuries are reported is damage towards the eye, such as the retina, fovea, macula and internal limiting membrane. This is caused by the body’s deceleration, as blood and fluid pressure increase inside the eye, based on. The result, generally, is temporary vision impairment. Spots inside the eye plus a temporary blind spot can also outcome, as can nasal injuries. The most fatal event involving the head is strangulation, typically caused when the cord gets tangled with the jumper.
Torso Injuries
Shoulder and back injuries involve dislocations and soft tissue harm. The spine is at risk during a bungee leap, though they are few in number, based on medstudents.com. Jumpers have noted compression fractures on the cervical spine and quadriplegia. Tenderness on the C5 vertebra plus a decreased array of motion have been noted. Injuries to the C2, C3, C5, C6 and C7 vertebra have resulted in minor loss of array of motion in a number of areas, such as the arms, hands and back.
Lower system injuries
Medstudents.com reports that one from the far more typical results of bungee jumping in the lower extremities is usually a peroneal, or fibular, nerve injury. The injury can lead to a feeling as if the jumper’s leg, foot or ankle has gone to sleep. This injury can also lead to weakness from the foot.
The West Virginia code defines bungee jumping as a commercial recreational activity, involving a individual jumping from a natural or man-made structure, while connected to some form of elastic material to prevent her from from hitting the ground. West Virginia has strict guidelines for operating bungee jumping attractions and has banned the activity from the annual Bridge Day festivities at the New River Gorge Bridge, after a jumper sustained injuries in 1993. As a result, it may possibly be tough to locate a legal bungee jumping venue, but you will discover some avenues you can pursue
1
Search for outdoor expedition clubs. If you will find none in your state, verify for regional clubs. Often, these clubs organize trips for many unique activities, including whitewater rafting, snowboarding, and even bungee jumping. Because they are employed to organizing these trips, they are much more likely to know where bungee jumping are going to be. To aid locate these clubs, verify with your local outdoor sports retailer or university.
Step 2
Contact the West Virginia division of labor to uncover out if any commercial bungee jump venues are registered as operating in compliance with the regulations in the Commercial Bungee Jumping Security Act. Due to the fact the operators and venues are subject to thorough inspection by state officials, the department will have records of these inspections and data about the venue.
Step 3
Contact any venues you might be interested in to learn the age, weight and other requirements that should be met prior to a individual is permitted to jump. The West Virginia Code has strict safety guidelines governing the attraction operators, so the operator will likely be able to advise you on what measures it has taken to remain in compliance with the law.
A great way to deliver a kinetic energy lesson in high school physics is to teach the physics of bungee jumping. Bungee jumping is all about physics in action. Not that you can all pile into the school bus to go bungee jumping, but you can certainly use the concept to make a kinetic energy lesson a little more interesting.
The First Law of Thermodynamics
1
Understand that energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be transformed.
2
Show the potential energy at the top of the platform. Discuss the weight of the jumper and the distance to fall.
3
Discuss how long the spring needs to be in order to absorb the kinetic energy of the fall without splattering the jumper on the ground.
4
Ask how different thicknesses of bungee and different lengths will provide different falls.
5
Divide the class into groups and calculate how many times the jumper will bounce before coming to rest.
Newton’s First Law of Motion
1
Newton’s First Law of Motion states that: A body in motion will remain in motion until acted upon by a force. A body at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by a force.
2
Talk about the forces involved: gravity, the weight of the jumper, when the bungee turns into a force.
3
Discuss what would happen if the jumper were pushed off instead of jumping by themselves.
4
Discuss what would happen if a wind was blowing. Determine how strong a wind would have to be in order to push the jumper out of safety.
