Afrojack, Bobby Burns – Bungee (Original Mix)
Query by j88k: What is the spring continual of the bungee cord?
A seventy five g bungee cord has an equilibrium duration of one.20 m. The cord is stretched to a size of 1.eighty m, then vibrated at 20 Hz. This makes a standing wave with two antinodes.
What is the spring continuous of the bungee cord?

Clever query.
The standing wave with two antinodes need to be for the 1st overtone of a line clamped at each end, and so with a node in the centre. Indicating that the wavelength of the standing wave is 1.8m.
The wave velocity is offered by V = frequency x wavelength
V = twenty . one.8 = 36 m/s
The wave pace can also be calculated from
V = SqRt(Tension / Mass per unit duration)
36 = SqRt (T / (.075/one.eight) )
Rearrange 36^2 x .075 = one.eight x T => T = 54 N
Final stage… F = k . x
x = extension, F = extending force
k = spring consistent – the answer.
F = the Tension! Hurray
56 = k ( 1.8 – 1.2 ) => k = 90 N/m
I’m snatching this to use in my individual exams.
